1. Tell us about Eri-ife
My name is Eri Ife. My given name is Adedamola Akin-Onigbinde , I'm a final year student of law in the university of Ibadan.
2. Give us an insight into your background (where are you from, your parents, where did you grow up, education, and childhood)
I'm from Oyo state. My father is a Lawyer and my mother is a consultant for Oxfam International. I was born in Abuja but grew up in Ibadan.
I'm not enthusiastic about practice. An understanding of the law however is invaluable
3. Whats you fashion taste bud like?
Well, a cross between Ric Hassani, Jidenna, and Adekunle Gold
I really like traditional stuff like dashikis, full native, eshikis.I really enjoy the corporate look. one of the reasons I'm so comfortable in my faculty i guess
4. How is it like juggling school with music?
It's not been an easy ride. but the answer is simple, i feel never allow yourself get overwhelmed by either school OR music
5. The name Eri-ife how did you come to bear the name?
It was a personal rechristening, due to certain factor at the time. I gave myself the name in 2011, but only started using it for music in 2015
6. A fan of yours just confirmed you had a stage name before Eri-ife, how true is that, and why the change?
Very true. I originally went by the name "Calderon"
I changed that name because as my sound evolved and grew, I felt like that name was no longer an adequate representation of my identity
7.We heard of recent that Adekunle Gold and Simi seem to be interested in your EP,whats the recipe behind making the EP?
Yeah, those two have shown a level of interest in my work.
The recipe, i think is what I've always said, My heart, your ears.
8. I know your popularity level has grown to a great level especially in the university of Ibadan, has the money started coming in as well because a lot of Nigerian artiste fake making money ?
The truth remains that in the entertainment world, the fame always comes before the fortune. I am, to a degree, more comfortable than I used to be.
9.How do you relax when not performing or recording?
I spend a lot of time hanging out with my friends, of course there's studying for school to be done, so, my days are often pretty eventful
10.You're now a rising star, how do you cope with fans, especially the ladies?
I'm in a committed relationship. So, focus on her helps me deal with all the attention.
But otherwise, it's really encouraging to see people who admire my work
11.Your advice to other young artistes out there.
Don't do music only to sell. it's not enough to drive you. you've got to love the music as much as you love the fame and accomplishment. Ambition is good, yes. but passion for your craft is paramount.
12.Last words for your fans.
Keep your ears and your heart open. I'm bringing a lot of stuff for you guys
